Aquarium of the Bay

As an RA, I have to put on 4 programs a semester. For my community (fun) program, I took a group of residents to the Aquarium of the Bay at Pier 39 in San Francisco!

We had so much fun! I even got to hug this cutie...

These are real jellyfish! I have officially decided that Jellyfish are weird... then someone commented that my hair makes me look like one... interesting..

This starfish looks like he is walking!! CRAZY!

They had sharks and everything! This one smiled at me!

Mike even wanted to come... and here he is touching the tiger sharks and sting rays!

And here I am touching the star fish!

We had some extra time so we got to hang out at the pier and do some picture taking before heading back!
It was a beautiful day! Aren't we cute??

PS - that is Alcatraz behind us!

Joe the Plumber WINS ASUC SENATOR!

EMILY "JOE THE PLUMBER" CARLTON WON SENATE!

One of my sisters from Cal recently ran for UC Berkeley's ASUC Senate (it is important, kind of like the student council of the whole school).

I think she was one of 20 out of 110 people to win! I am so proud of her! Here was her campaign photo that I took for her...

Who wouldn't vote for her?!?!?

¡Cancun!

WE WENT TO CANCUN!
Few people thought it was actually going to happy but Spring Break '09 in Cancun was an amazing trip for Magnum, Emily, and I. Here is just a snapshot as to how the trip went!

We arrived and the water was actually blue! It was beautiful!! We had amazing weather and our hotel was right on the beach!

We definitely tried to be as ridiculous as possible in our native country! We bought these sombreros early in the trip and... of course... wore them around for everyone to laugh at us! The most epic part: wearing them off the plan back in California! Everywhere we went, we caused a scene!

There were many things I learned during my educational trip to Cancun... the first and most prevalent of these things was the following: Mexicans LOVE redheads!

We ended out trip taking a cruise all around Cancun! It was amazing and no matter how tired and salt-water-hair we were, we powered through and enjoyed every minute!

The best part is we all came back even better friends! I love my gurls! Thanks for the AMAZING trip!

Spring Break '10 in Cancun next year!! Everyone is invited!!

No Matter How Good You Are... Don't Cut Your Own Bangs!"

RAQUEL IS GETTING MARRIED!

In case no one knew this fact.. it is true!!! Getting ready for the wedding we had a shower for my favorite lover of Jon Logan.

This beautiful cake represented the whole party!

This is Raquel (or Rachel).

She has a beautiful face. I love people that don't take real photos.. and I believe that is the primary reason Raquel and I get along so well!

Courtney clearly had a wonderful time sporting the white t-shirt and bandanna.

I think she looked beautiful!

So then came gift time... Raquel is an avid cooker.. and as much as I wanted to get her that cheetah thong, I was told to tone it down for the wedding shower! So I decided to get her the one and only

PIG CUTTING BOARD!

You are welcome Rachel... I know it is amazing.

We had to give Raquel little notes of wisdom as she counted down the days till her wedding. I think it is pretty clear that Raquel is sister to me - the big sister I never had. Because of this I gave her my most precious wisdom...

No matter how skilled you are, DON'T CUT YOUR OWN BANGS!

I am SOOOOO excited for Rachel and Jon's wedding! I love you gurl!

Valentimes Day

My blogging skills are back! Sorry it has been so long... we have some catching up to do!

This year for Valentines Day (which Mike calls Valentimes Day... we don't know why) My wonderful boyfriend teamed up with my best friend Magnum to get a mariachi band to some serenade me outside of my building! While I was extremely surprised and embarrassed ... I was very memorable and I was so impressed!

He definitely put the "rose buying" boyfriends to shame that day...

And since Magnum was friends with the band we got to take photos!

Here (from left to right) are Brooke, Magnum, and Emily... thanks for surprising me everyone!!

PS - Magnum CRIED.

Then later in the day Mike returned with chocolates and balloons for me... and he never forgets about my girls! (he got them there own chocolate for the day)

BRAVO MIKE! WE LOVE YOU!

¡Victory Burrito!

On Wednesday Feb. 11th at 8:25am, I found out I was accepted into the Haas School of Business at UC Berkeley. For some of you that are unfamiliar with the program, it is indeed very excellent. Here are just a few of the people that Haas has produced:

1) The creator of Dilbert
2) The president of Absolut Vodka
3) Founder of Gap
4) Co-creator of Google Earth
5) CEO of Jack in the Box
6) Co-inventor of Hot Pockets
7) Congressmen
8) CEO of Playtex (special recognition for the tampon man!)

So when I found out I would be among the greats, I decided I was going to have to celebrate correctly: Burritos, Shopping, and Late Night Nachos! It truly was a magnificent day!

The first photo was when Magnum and I partook in the most satisfying burritos ever from La Burrita, our second home.

This photo is from our shopping adventure right after where I awarded myself, and we stimulated the economy (you are welcome America) with a pink Coach clutch! Well actually, it was a gift from my parents. Thanks fam for making my day perfect!

Next was Late Night where I ran into my new "Haasmate" Kira! Clearly Late Night at the dining commons is where all the successful and intelligent people celebrate. Haas has about a 50% acceptance rate, and the average GPA is a 3.7, so we were pretty excited to represent for the women of the future!!

Finally, this is a photo of Calvin and I with my precious Nachos smothered in cheesy goodness and him with his burger. It was a perfect ending to the best day ever!

And thank you to everyone who believed in me and was rooting for me the whole time. I promise to buy you something wonderful when I take over the business world! I start summer school on July 6th and will keep everyone updated on what it is like to sit on padded seats with extra leg room and pee in bathrooms lined with gold!

Thanks everyone for the celebratory messages on the family blog too! And I will try not to take my new found success and be a "Haas-hole" (get it??)

Broomballerz

So because I truly am an amazing RA, I planned a special trip to Oakland Ice Center for all my residents to go Broomballing. Now, if you are unfamiliar with the game you run around on ice in tennis shoes and use "brooms" to hit orange balls into hockey nets. There were two teams: Red and Black

Clearly... Black did not come prepared...

However, team Red, led by me, was prepared mentally and physically for victory...

While they may have taken cute photos...

We were serious about our game

But we pretended to be cordial...

Alright maybe we really were cordial...

But we got down to business once the game began... (I would like to pay special homage to Canada in this photo)

But clearly, the red team (equip with all the floor redheads, including Sean in this photo) was going to dominate...

And no matter how many times our men fell..

And it was a lot...

We were victorious...
